Through his 35 years in the golf industry, Michael has developed a wealth of knowledge when it comes to club fitting, meaning he has all the necessary skills to be able to elevate your golf game to the next level. As well as being an expert in all things Callaway and custom fitting, he is a highly commended golf coach – even working with European Tour players in the past.
The beginning of Michael’s Callaway journey
Michael began as a Callaway staff player and ambassador in 2005, and through his dedication and years of service to Callaway, he was awarded the title of Global Master Staff Ambassador in 2025. Regularly attending the latest Callaway training courses, you can rest assured that his knowledge is always up to date with the latest products and technology. And, when it comes to club fitting, you’d have to search far and wide to find someone with more experience and knowledge, all of which is implemented during club fittings to ensure that you come away with the best possible set-up for your golf game. This includes comprehensive checks of shafts and lie angles, all aided by the latest and most accurate TrackMan 4 technology, of which Michael is also an expert in. “The brand-new TrackMan 4 technology that we have invested in has been a huge help in getting people to better understand their game, showing how key factors such as their clubhead speed and ball speed can improve with just a few tweaks. It’s also helped to make my fittings more accurate than ever, giving me the confidence to know that the numbers I’m using to base my recommendations on is as accurate as possible. We’re one of the few fitting centres in the south-east that also offer outdoor fittings, something which we feel is key in seeing the ball flight and getting the best results”.
Another reason for Michael’s popularity is his friendly and relaxed demeanour, which can make even the most nervous or inexperienced golfer feel at ease during their custom fitting or lessons. His chatty and affable personality means that he is equally as good at aiding both male and female golfers, meaning he is able to boast a wide clientele which includes golfers of all genders and abilities.
“I try to make all of my fittings and lessons as engaging and informative as possible, using drills which can be practiced at home and by giving people a clear understanding of what it is that they need to work on. The easiest way to help golfers improve is to simplify the game, which is something I’d consider myself to be really good at doing – golfers have a habit of overcomplicating the swing, which can be detrimental to their game more often than not”. This approach often proves very popular with golfers, especially those who struggle to understand where they’re going wrong.
