Zero Torque, Countless Options

What are zero torque putters?

Every golfer knows that when it comes to shooting lower scores, being able to putt well is key. We’ve all heard the saying ‘drive for show, putt for dough’ which is one of golf’s oldest adages. Finding the right putter therefore is imperative and here at Duncan Lambert Golf, we’ve got an extensive selection to choose from. We stock all of the biggest brands, including the latest work from Odyssey, Scotty Cameron, TaylorMade, Ping and many more. Our knowledgeable team are always on hand in-store to assist, offering their advice and recommendations, all of which can be trialled on our outdoor putting green.

When it comes to choosing a putter however, the options are seemingly endless. However, one of golf’s hottest and most talked about topics at the moment are zero torque putters, which have been immensely popular. Zero torque putters are designed with the intention of keeping the clubface as square as possible throughout the putting stroke. In doing so, this helps to keep putts more consistent and accurate, as well as keeping them on the target line more often. It also means that strikes which aren’t perfectly out of the centre of the clubface are punished much less.

Any keen golfer would have surely heard about the popularity of the zero torque putters, with all of the big names in golf bringing out their own offering. We’re going to take a look at some of the best options available right now, with key insights on how they could help to improve your putting.

TaylorMade Spider ZT

For a number of years now, the Spider range of putters have been a mainstay on the shelves of golf stores across the globe. As with many of the other industry leaders, TaylorMade have produced their own zero torque putter by utilising all of the great features of the Spider range and adding to them. So, what are these new additions which have helped to improve an already popular range of putters?

True Path Alignment which has been synonymous with the Spider range since its arrival means that lining up putts is as easy as ever

The combination of these new features, alongside all of those which have made the Spider putters so popular up until now, means that the Spider ZT range has flown off our shelves since its release. Many of the big names on tour have taken advantage of the increased stability and consistency that the Spider ZT offers, including Tommy Fleetwood and Brian Harman to name few. Priced at £449, why not come and see for yourself why it’s been so popular since its release?

Scotty Cameron Phantom 5 OC & 11R OC

No one does high-end putters quite like Scotty Cameron do, and even they have had to get in on the action when it comes to zero torque putters. Available in the popular Phantom 5 and Phantom 11 models, the OC range stands for ‘Onset-Centre’ and provides additional forgiveness and low torque much like many of its competitors. The zero torque technology, combined with the milled feel that only Scotty Cameron can produce, results in a putter which feels incredible off of the clubface.

The additional weight in the head of the Phantom 11R OC is there to maximise stability, complete with a custom Matador grip. This results in a putter which not only looks fantastic but feels fantastic too. A more premium option, the Scotty Cameron Phantom OC putters are both priced at £499.

Odyssey Tri-Hot S2S

One of the first names you think of when it comes to putters is Odyssey. Used by countless players on tour and trusted by golfers worldwide, Odyssey were one of the frontrunners when it comes to zero torque technology. Their latest offering however comes in the form of the Tri-Hot S2S range, with a whole host of head options for every golfer. There’s plenty of clever design features and technology on offer too, which you can find out more about below.

AI designed club face which aims to keep ball speed across the clubface consistent, meaning off-centre hits are punished less

Mid-sized pistol putter grip, which is designed to not only sit comfortably in your hands but also give more feedback on the position of the putter face throughout your stroke

Available in a variety of head shapes including the popular #7, Rossie & Jailbird options

The Odyssey Tri-Hot S2S range start from just £429, with the whole line-up available at our West Malling store. Better yet, you can trial the range out on the putting green, helping you to narrow down your options and find the one which suits your game the best.
