All eyes are on the US Open this week, with golf’s biggest hitters all competing to win one of the major tour events. Tricky conditions at Shinnecock Hills mean that keeping drives on the fairway is very important, with high winds and long rough just off the fairways. Many of the world’s top players are using the latest drivers from brands such as Callaway, TaylorMade, Titleist and more, but which one would suit your game the best? In this blog, we’re going to take you through the key features of the most popular drivers on tour, all of which are available for custom fitting at Duncan Lambert Golf.
Callaway Quantum – Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele, Min Woo Lee

The Callaway Quantum driver is proving incredibly popular on tour, with plenty of players adding it to the bag since its release. It’s available in 5 different heads, including the popular MAX and Triple Diamond versions, with a mini driver version also available. For those seeking maximum forgiveness, the MAX head is certainly the best option – it offers a high MOI with an AI designed face, offering increased forgiveness across the clubface. As well as being incredibly forgiving, it also helps to keep ball speed high, meaning that you’ll be finding more fairways AND hitting it further.
For the better player who is less concerned with having the most forgiving driver, the Triple Diamond version of the Quantum is the one to go for. It features the same AI designed face, but with a smaller head shape designed to provide lower spin, more workability and a more penetrating ball flight. And if you’re a golfer who wants to find the perfect balance between the MAX and Triple Diamond, why not consider the Triple Diamond MAX – the perfect blend of the two.
All Callaway Quantum drivers come with an Opti-Fit hosel, meaning you can fine tune your driver to work for you. Better yet, if you have a custom fitting with us, our expert team will help you to find the best settings, getting the most out of your game. This is just one aspect of custom fitting that we’ll take care of, offering one of the most comprehensive fitting services anywhere in the UK.
TaylorMade Qi4D – Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy

Two of the biggest hitters on Tour have added the Qi4D to their bags, with players making comments about how fast the driver is off the clubface. Bryson has even managed to hit a driver 427 yards on the first day of the US Open, which is nothing short of ridiculous. Rory is also using the driver and managed to shoot an impressive two under on the first day, which given the tricky conditions and high winds is very good. Much like the Callaway, the TaylorMade Qi4D also offers fantastic levels of forgiveness, making it another great all-round option for golfers to add to their bags.
Some of the key features of the Qi4D driver include a redesigned Speed Pocket, aimed at reducing spin and keeping ball speeds high on mishits, as well as a 60x Carbon Twist Face for a tighter dispersion. The use of the carbon saves weight too, which adds to the ball speed – making the Qi4D TaylorMade’s fastest ever driver. There’s an extensive range of shaft options too, with the new REAX shafts available in a variety of weights to optimize your shot trajectory.

Our fitting process looks at all the shafts available and matches your swing speed to the best possible option. We measure your swing speed with TrackMan 4 units, the most accurate in launch monitor technology, to place you into either light, regular, stiff or extra-stiff flex. Once this has been determined, we’ll look at different weights to make sure you’re getting the perfect height on every shot and not losing distance because of shots which are too high or too low.
Titleist GTS – Jordan Speith, Justin Thomas, Cameron Young
Only released this month, the Titleist GTS driver replaces the popular GT range, and it’s already been a big hit. The new line-up consists of the GTS2 GTS3 and GTS4 with a suitable option for players of all levels. The GTS2 has an optimized sweet spot and is perfect for the golfer looking to add power and consistency to their drives. The GTS2 strategically distributes weight to increase both speed and stability across the clubface.
For the golfer who is looking for more control over the speed and the ball flight, the GTS3 is the one to go for – it’s Titleist’s most adjustable driver ever and gives plenty of options to fine tune the driver to your liking. And if you’re trying to achieve less spin, the GTS4 offers exactly that. Much like the Callaway Quantum and TaylorMade Qi4D, all the new Titleist GTS drivers are available for custom fitting at Duncan Lambert Golf, where you’ll be able to choose from all the latest options. As well as the aforementioned drivers, we also stock the Ping G440 and Cobra OPTM ranges, which have also proved popular on tour.
